The Green Shift: Eco-Friendly Packaging & Our Circular Mission

|James Walters

I’m dropping into the blog today to share an update regarding how we package and ship your orders, a quick question for our community, and a confession from my teenage years.

To understand why I’m currently back on a packaging tape gun, you have to picture me as a teenager working at Silverstone Circuit. My mate Steve Smith and I used to have actual, high-speed races packing boxes using tape guns.

While those teenage motorsport days are behind me, I'm officially back on the tape gun. Only this time, the plastic rolls have been replaced with eco-friendly, vegan kraft paper tape.

Before reading through our new eco-friendly upgrades and our search for a UK recycling partner below, you can watch my video update recorded straight from my desk:

The Shift to Eco-friendly Packaging

We are excited to announce that we are transitioning to a brand-new, eco-friendly packaging setup. Once we've used up our stocks of jiffy bags, your retail orders will be arriving in Kite Environ Mailers. These are 100% recyclable, made from sustainable paper sources, and feature an internal honeycomb paper structure to give your wearable tech protection without relying on single-use plastics.

We are also introducing Enviro-boxes for our bulk international distributor orders, plus we already use zero-ink thermal shipping labels.

Partnering with the UK's Greenest Delivery Option

Our packaging upgrade aligns perfectly with our decision to ship your orders via Royal Mail. Apart from maintaining an excellent delivery record, Royal Mail is officially the UK’s greenest delivery option* for letters and parcels.

Their rigorous strategy to reach Net-Zero by 2040 has been fully validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and is built upon four core environmental pillars:

  1. Zero-Emission Deliveries: Aiming for a 100% zero-emission final mile by 2035 by transitioning to electric vehicles and optimizing walking delivery routes.
  2. Zero-Emission Operations: Reducing building and distribution network emissions.
  3. Making Circular Happen: Minimizing the use of raw, virgin resources to drastically cut down on operational waste.
  4. Collaborating for Action: Working closely with suppliers, customers, and their workforce to accelerate industry-wide decarbonization.

* Based on average gCO2e emissions per parcel delivered by UK parcel operators, as published by Citizens Advice 2024 Parcels League Table. You can read their full sustainability data and milestones at Steps to zero │ Royal Mail Group Ltd.

The Circular Mission: Can You Help Us?

Our wearable tech is designed to act like a biological tuning fork, potentially supporting natural recovery, cellular energy (ATP), and daily vitality. Because your body naturally absorbs and utilizes these embedded frequencies over time, the bands have a 12-to-18-month lifecycle, after which they need replacing.

My ultimate vision for AV Edge is to build a true circular economy. I want to establish a system where you can send your worn-out bands back to us, allowing us to completely recycle the silicone into brand-new products.

So, here is my question for the community: Do you have a direct connection to, or know of, a specialized UK-based silicone recycler who has the capacity to partner with a growing wellness brand? If you do, please drop us a message through our contact page or hit reply to our newsletter. I would love to start that conversation.

Lightening the Load

Protecting the planet our community lives on is exactly why we care so deeply about this eco-friendly transition. We love hearing how our technology helps families thrive. Just recently, Jo shared her experience with our AV Edge Advanced Wristband range:

"Both myself and my daughter use these bands and they have really lighten the load. Both of us have reduced tiredness and I can only explain it as more go in the mornings" - Jo

If you are looking to experience that extra lifestyle boost for yourself or your family, our limited-edition AV Edge Advanced Cranberry Wristband is currently in excellent stock and ready for immediate dispatch. Please keep in mind that our Cranberry and Sky Blue colourways run on alternating production cycles - so if you want the Cranberry, make sure to grab it before it phases out for the season!
