Our ultimate goal is to build a fully circular economy. We’ve been proactively reaching out to UK silicone manufacturers to establish a dedicated recycling scheme. While we haven't secured the right partner just yet, it is a priority on our roadmap.
Can you send your old band back to AV Edge?
We currently cannot accept products to be returned because we do not have a solution for silicone recycling. We are actively working on a solution, and as soon as we have one in place, we will send a message out to all of our subscribers with full return instructions.
What can you do in the meantime?
Silicone cannot be recycled in standard UK kerbside household recycling bins. However, you do have a couple of options right now:
- Specialist TerraCycle Schemes: Some independent zero-waste hubs and specialised TerraCycle drop-off points throughout the UK accept complex polymers and silicone. It is worth checking with your local eco-hub.
- Repurposing: High-grade silicone is incredibly durable. You could reuse older bands to bundle cables, secure gear, or use them as heavy-duty luggage tags.
