How to Check Your AV Edge and Mojo EF Technology Discs

Just like an electrical device uses the energy in a battery, our bodies use the frequencies (frequencies, not magnets) in the EF Technology discs in our products. The discs are typically effective for approx. 12-months. For people with an acute ailment they may use the discs in 6 to 9 months. After this time, you may feel any benefits start to fade.

Why Checking Your EF Technology Discs Matters

To keep reaping the benefits of your AV Edge or Mojo wristband, and Equine and Canine products, it’s important to ensure that the embedded EF Technology discs are in peak condition. Over time, the performance of these discs can diminish, typically around the 12-month mark, depending on use. Regularly checking your discs helps you maintain the optimal balance, energy, and wellness benefits they provide (based on the feedback that we get from many of our customers over the last 15 years).

Here’s a simple guide to inspecting your EF Technology discs and knowing when it might be time for a replacement.

1. Look for a Shiny, Visible Hologram

A properly functioning disc should have a clear, shiny hologram. This hologram signifies that the disc is still providing the benefits of AV Edge’s unique frequency-based technology (frequencies, not magnets).

2. Signs It’s Time to Replace

If your disc shows any of these signs, it’s likely time to replace it:

  • Dullness: If the hologram has lost its shine and looks faded, the disc’s performance may be waning.
  • Blackening: Black spots on the disc or around its edges can indicate that it’s no longer effective.
  • Edge Wear: If the edges of the disc appear damaged or worn, it may not be delivering its full benefits.

Visual Guide: New vs. Worn Discs

To make it easier, here’s a visual representation so you can quickly tell if your disc needs replacing:

Old/Used Disc Examples:

When the disc dissolves it will be clear;

The disc will eventually totally disappear (clear or black):

Discs can also go bulbous as water can build up inside as the disc dissolves. Water doesn’t come out of the disc unless pierced;

FYI: The EF Technology discs in our products are always sealed in by a clear silicone cover. Do not remove or pierce the silicone. As your discs get used up, it's normal for the silicone to bubble, which is not water getting under the silicone, but the disc material dissolving and creating a liquid. If you get any of this liquid on your skin, wash in warm water.

Why You Might Need to Replace More Regularly

Our recommendation of replacing your products approx. every 12-months is just a guideline. We're all different and we all lead different lifestyles and this will affect the products and our EF Technology discs.

It's important to know that our EF Technology discs get used up and this is why the effectiveness of the discs will reduce over time. It's normal for this type of technology.

Here are some common examples of why you might need to replace your products more often than others:

If you have a specific condition or a more acute ailment:

Many of our customers want relief from their aches and pains and ailments. Our customers with more acute ailments, such as one of our Advocate's, Vicki Hoban, is an Irish para equestrian with Ehlers Danlos syndrome. Vicki is using her discs more quickly than others, and will need to replace her wristbands approx. every 6-months.

If You’re a Restless Sleeper:

Restless sleepers will squash the wristband and discs slightly. Very restless sleepers can destroy the discs.

Your Band Is Showing Signs of Damage etc.:

If it's a manufacturing fault then you will see a sort of 'tongue' coming out of the square section that houses the disc. We have not seen this with our latest generation AV Edge wristbands. We invested a huge amount of time in designing and producing the very highest quality medical grade silicone wristband compared to the previous generation Mojo Wristbands; however, please contact us if you have a question about this.

There other reasons for signs of damage would be lifestyle related. In the example below we can see a tear. Over the last 15 years and 20k+ customers we have seen that this is usually caused by the wristband being caught by accident and this creates a tiny split that will expand during sleep, taking the band off and on etc.

An example to illustrate the durability of our latest generation AV Edge Wristbands: When we go to shows we are taking our wristbands off and on hundreds of times a day, over many days and shows, and after about 5 or 6 months of this sort of use we will get a break; however, this is an extremely unusual scenario because we are doing this as part of demonstrating the durability of our bands.

Lastly, it's important to note that our wristbands are designed to break at a certain tension. This is for safety to avoid damage to your wrist and arm if you were to catch the wristband on a door handle etc.
